On the occasion of Their majesties recent Visit to India to hold
a Coronation Darbar at Dehli, their Majesties loyal and law abiding
subject of India was as much enjoyed as it is out of the powerof pen
to mention, and as it is stated in the last part of a telegram from
Lord Hardinge to Mr. Asquith, at the conclusion of the Royal Visit
that their Majesties gracious demeanour and unfailing sympathy had
drawn closer the bonds, uniting England and India.
Therefore their Majesties gracious visit had assured the people
of India, that henceforth, they in India and their off shoots serv-
ing to their Majesties in other parts of the Empire will receive
unequalled treatment which will be taken as grants and concessions.
But it is a matter of great regret, that this their Majesties
gracious visit to India has not affected the minds of individuel
Britishers in charge of Indians, in the Colonies, concerning the
treatment of Indians, according to their Majesties wishes.
Heretofore the other British Colonies were infected with these
illegal treatments, the cries of which have reached the ears of their Majesties from time to time and the matters are being discuss. ed by the members of the Cabinet, but these lilegal treatments have reached now in a peaceful living Colony of Hongkong Chine and the British tradition of justice i.s. to decide the cases by hearing both side witnesses and permitting the defendants to crose- examine the complainants has not been observed by some ill-habited persons and one of the cases of this nature is as follows and is worthy of note and desires to draw the attention of their Majesties and all other members of the Cabinet, who are always doing justice
to their loyal subject.
